LOMBARD, Ill. — November 2, 2026 —
Many of Cat Guardians’ volunteers were on site to accept all 42 cats from fire department personnel, as they were rescued from the fire damaged building. At this time, the cause of the fire is undetermined.
The building is uninhabitable. The cats are currently being cared for by Lombard Veterinary Hospital and DuPage County Animal Services. Cat Guardians is also raising funds to cover the cats’ immediate care, veterinary needs, food, supplies, and temporary housing.
“We are grateful beyond words to all the fire and police personnel that assisted with the emergency situation and acted quickly to get every cat to safety,” said Beth Egofske, President. “We are also extremely thankful to the emergency responders who worked to put out the fire. The assistance of Lombard Veterinary Hospital and DuPage County Animal Services is sincerely appreciated!”
DuPage County Animal Services could only provide short term emergency housing. Therefore, Feral Fixers has offered to house our cats until we find a resolution to our situation. We are truly grateful for their kindness and assistance!
Cat Guardians needs support from individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations as we work to continue to care for the cats and now rebuild.
